Huge Retaining Wall Collapse on Lake Lanier

This enormous retaining wall is 27 feet at the tallest point and roughly 5 feet tall at the lowest point. It has collapsed, as you can see. When the retaining wall collapsed it brought down half the lawn with it!

I am learning the importance of engineering and qualified contractors the hard way. I invested forty-five thousand dollars in the wall which was about half the cost a bona fide retaining wall contractor bid. Now, it will cost more, much more. The collapse has made the entire area unsafe.

If you replace a retaining wall, be smart, hire only contractors with retaining wall experience and insist on engineering plans.
